Calling All Students in Pursuit of Higher Education! 

The Nancy Sullivan Graf Scholarship provides five (5) $2,500 scholarships to members in our community in pursuit of higher education. Nancy was an employee of BMI Federal Credit Union for over 20 years, retiring in 2023 as the Financial Education Manager. Nancy, who began her career in social work, was instrumental in the creation and development of the award-winning Financial Education Program that we present today. Nancy believed in the importance of educating all people, no matter their financial situation, life stage, or acuity, to improve their financial lives. The scholarship is named in her honor to recognize the impact she had on so many individuals.

Qualifying students must be: 

• A BMI FCU member in good standing at the time of submission. The account must be in your name, not your parent/guardian.
• A high school senior graduating in the 2023-2024 school year, a student currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year college or university full or part-time, or a student attending a vocational school.
• Willing and able to submit the required information in the form below.

Directions for Scholarship This year's scholarship consists of two parts. First you will complete a quiz to determine three career fields that may be of interest to you based on your responses (10-20 min). Second, research these fields to determine what positions within those fields might be of interest to you. This is meant to be a helpful and fun exercise to help understand the many factors that may go into selecting a career path in the future. Will your goals and motivations change throughout your career? Probably, yes. Can you decide to change your mind once you already begin down a path? Also, yes. There is no crystal ball to tell us what the future holds but use this as an opportunity to get to know yourself and start laying a solid foundation to move forward with the greatest tool of all…knowledge! PART ONE: Career Field Quiz Visit our Online Learning Dashboard at https://bmifcu.banzai.org/wellness! The first step is to login. Click on the green Login button in the top right-hand corner of your screen. This will take you to the login page. If this is your first time, click on Sign-Up toward the bottom of the login screen. Logging in will allow you to participate in the Banzai courses and save your progress. Click on the Explore menu at the top of the screen and select Courses. Next, you will go to the College and Careers course. Once there, you will click the blue ENTER bar on the Career Field Quiz to complete the quiz and learn more about potential career fields. The quiz will give you 3 potential Career fields you may like, based on the answers in the quiz. Complete the Career Exploration Form below, answering the questions relating to that career field. B. Now that you have identified three career fields, use job board sites like Indeed, Zip Recruiter, and LinkedIn to find available jobs in your area. Go to one of these sites and enter the career fields above. For each, use the buttons at the top to narrow your search, then pick the job you're most excited about. Then, read through the description, and fill out the following information. (For the Pay section, if the pay is hourly, multiply it by 40 hrs then by 52 weeks to determine the annual pay)

I understand that if I am selected as a winner of The Nancy Sullivan Graf Scholarship and in consideration thereof, I understand, agree, and hereby grant permission to BMI FCU to use my likeness and name in announcing and promoting this scholarship. I understand that the Scholarship Committee is solely responsible for the selection of the scholarship winners, and its decision is final. In submitting this application, I am permitting the Committee to confirm my BMI FCU membership status, in addition to my school enrollment status and academic standing with both my current school and desired university. If I am selected as a winner, I understand my scholarship award will be administered to me through my intended university. In submitting this application, I certify that the information is complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge. I understand and agree that falsification of or failure to provide required information will result in termination of the scholarship. 

Selection Criteria

The Selection Committee will base the selection of the scholarship recipients on the following:

Completion of Banzai Career Field Quiz: 10%
• Please use the same email address for this application as the Banzai login

Completion of the Career Exploration Questionnaire: 90%
• Quality of responses
• Grammar, punctuation, spelling & neatness
• Compliance with required format

All applications must be submitted to BMI Federal Credit Union (BMI FCU®) by April 30, 2024. You must be a BMI FCU member in good standing as of the date that you submit the application, a student currently enrolled in college, vocational school, or a graduating high school senior in the 2023-2024 school year. Applications will not be returned and will become the property of BMI FCU. BMI FCU employees, senior officers, volunteers and their families are not eligible. The winning entries will be chosen at the discretion of the BMI FCU Nancy Sullivan Graf Scholarship Committee. Illegible entries may be disqualified. Winners will be notified on or before May 31, 2024, by mail or phone and agree to have their names and photos published in BMI FCU promotional materials. After confirmation of registration and acceptance at a vocational school, two-year community college or a four-year college or university, award checks will be issued directly to the applicant’s school. Five (5) $2,500 Scholarships will be awarded. Not valid where prohibited by law.
